The 1st Malikussaleh Medical and Cultural Camp 2024

Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Malikussaleh is proud to announce that 8 international delegates from Universiti Malaya, Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (6 malaysian students and 2 malaysian lecturers) had participate in the 1st Malikussaleh Medical and Cultural Camp Scheduled for September 23th to 29th 2024. This remarkable initiative aims to combine health education especially in disaster management and cultural exchange, fostering collaboration among young minds from diverse background. Start from Banda Aceh, the delegates visited some of disaster site such as tsunami museum, the great mosque of Baiturrahman, and seeing the “Tsunami Ship”, PLTS Apung, a former power generating ship that was carried inland by the 2004 tsunami in banda aceh. During their time at Fakultas Kedokteran FK Unimal, the delegates joined the class tutorial session at medicine program and counseling class at psychology program. They also had friendly meeting with student from FK Unimal during Cultural Day. The delegates admired aceh culture as seen through the Ranup Lampuan dance and Likok pulo dance, also Sumatran culture” tor tor” dance. The camp also featured cuisine from both side of countries, encouraging understanding and appreciation of different cultures. The delegates also engaged in community services at Reuleut Barat, joined in mass circumcision and health education about disaster resilience. Meanwhile, the lectures from Malaysia gave a lesson about climate change contribution to disaster and hospital field during disaster. At the end of the program, the delegates build a tent at rancung beach to camp for one night and learn thoroughly about disaster management with FK Unimal, MERC team, BPBD, BASARDA, RAPI and Navy team. Dr Muhammad Sayuti, Sp.B, Subsp. BD, Dean of FK Unimal stated : “we are thrilled to have these talented Malaysian students and lecturer in this unique camp. Their Involvement will undoubtedly enrich the experience for all attendees, fostering a spirit of global cooperation and cultural exchange”
