The Future Research Talent (FRT) awards are jointly offered by ANU College of Science, ANU College of Health and Medicine and ANU College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics to staff and students from Indonesia.

The FRT is a competitive and prestigious program that attracts the best staff and students from top-tier Indonesian institutions. The program offers a valuable opportunity for Indonesia’s emerging research talent to form international connections and develop research skills at one of the world’s leading universities (ANU is ranked #34 in the world in QS World University Rankings 2024).

Travel to The Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, Australia in 2024 to complete a collaborative research project

The 2024 FRT program will provide selected Indonesian staff / students with an opportunity to travel to ANU to pursue collaborative research, for a period of 10-12 weeks, in a range of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine disciplines. FRT is a competitive and prestigious program attracting scholars from top-tier Indonesian institutions. Value and benefits

The value of each FRT award is A$8,500.

FRT awards provide selected Indonesian staff and students with an opportunity to travel to ANU to pursue collaborative research, for a period of 10-12 weeks, in a range of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine disciplines.

The amount offered under the FRT program must be utilised to directly support the recipient’s participation in collaborative research at the ANU College of Science, ANU College of Health & Medicine and ANU College of Engineering, Computing & Cybernetics and may be allocated towards costs associated with, but not limited to return airfare, visa (including any associated medical expenses), travel insurance, accommodation, and general living expenses. The management of award funds is the responsibility of the recipient.

Eligibility

  • Students: ITS Students from Undergraduate batch 2021 or Master batch 2023
    PhD candidates are allowed to apply but only for research projects that are identified on the FRT webpage with * asterisk (denoting they are available to candidates currently pursuing PhD). PhD candidates nominated for all other projects will not be considered.
  • Staff: This program also open for ITS Staff/Faculty Members who hold Bachelor or Master degree are best suited.
    Research projects / areas / groups that are open to hosting both staff and students are identified on theFRT webpage with # symbol, and those that are open only to staff (from specific
    universities) by % symbol
  • Note: This program is not open for Master students from Professional or Executive Classes. The aim of the program is to support scholars that have a passion for research and are interested in developing a career in scientific research.

To be eligible for an FRT award, the candidate must:

  • be a citizen of Indonesia residing in Indonesia;
  • be able to demonstrate a high level of academic ability and research potential;
  • be an academic staff member or a student enrolled in a program at a collaborating institution in Indonesia;
  • be nominated for award consideration by a collaborating Indonesian institution specified by the ANU College of Science, ANU College of Health & Medicine;
  • be seeking to undertake a research project in one of the specific fields of research proposed by the ANU College of Science, ANU College of Health & Medicine and ANU College of Engineering, Computing & Cybernetics; and,
  • have not previously received an FRT award from the ANU College of Science, ANU College of Health & Medicine and ANU College of Engineering, Computing & Cybernetics.

In exceptional circumstances, applications from students enrolled at institutions other than the selected partner institutions may be permitted at the discretion of the Dean of either of the three Colleges, at the request of a Research School Director.

  1. Transcript. (English version). The GPA of applicants must higher than 3.0(out of 4.0)
  2. Certificate of Enrollment (for student)
  3. Scanned passport information page with minimum validity one year prior to September 2024
  4. Valid English Proficiency Test Score (original). TOEFL ITP/iBT/IELTS/Duolingo (TEFL/ EFL are not accepted) with minimum score equal to B2 CEFR
  5. Two academic reference letters using template provided by ANU
  6. Two academic reference/recommendation letter free format
  7. Statement Letter (please download from here bit.ly/its-student-exchange )
  8. CV
  9. Scanned of Parents letter support (the letter must signed by your parents and the letter must mention about the awareness of your parents about this program. Please also mention that your parents support you for the financial and other things if you are accepted in this program)
